Accessing Slate and Locating Your Students

This article details the steps to accessing the Slate platform, searching for students associated with you, and a brief overview of a student profile.

1. To access the Slate system, navigate to https://learn.hs.pitt.edu/manage in your browser.

2. Log in to SSO using your University of Pittsburgh credentials.

3. Once you gain access, you will be on the Slate homepage.

4. On the homepage, the most relevant options are:

A. The Records button, where you can access the records of students you are associated with.

B. The Queries/Reports button, where you can access queries or reports of relevant information.

C. The search bar, where you can quickly search for records.

D. The profile button, where you can change settings and log out.

5. To access a student's page, use one of the following options:

A. On the Records page, search for the student by name. Matching records will populate as you type. Click on a name to access their profile.

B. From the search box present in the upper right of every page, enter a student’s name to be presented with possible matches. Click on a name to access their profile.

C. If you are a program coordinator or director, on the Queries/Reports page, access the query titled “My Students - Grad Populations”. Click the “Run Query” button to generate a list of your students. Click on a name to bring up a preview window, and then click "Lookup Record" to access their profile.

6. On a student’s profile, their dashboard displays important information like email address, matriculation date, and advisors. A number of tabs allow you to view and edit relevant information on the student. See other Knowledge Base articles for explanations of these tabs.
