Introduction
Autodesk makes available no-cost software to faculty, staff, and students for education and research that can be used on both your personal devices and in the physical and virtual campus computing labs. However, in order to use this software in the labs and classrooms, you must first claim your license from Autodesk. It is strongly recommended that you do this before any classes you may have in these labs to avoid any interruption in class time.
Information
The Autodesk Education Community site contains all of the information you will need to sign up for and claim your Autodesk licenses for one year. This will also need to be performed before you are able to launch Autodesk software in the virtual or physical computing labs. Below are the steps you should follow on their site:
- In upper right corner select Sign in
- Enter your primary University of Pittsburgh email address (i.e. xyz123@pitt.edu) and select "Next"
- You will be pointed to Pitt Passport to authenticate with your university credentials. If you are already authenticated through Passport this part may be automatically bypassed.
- Accept the Duo authentication
- From the main Autodesk screen select "Students"
- Under OPTION ONE Request or renew access select the option "Select Product"
- Select your software product
- At the Subscriptions plans site select "Select"
- At the Autodesk educational access select "Submit"
- If prompted, the school address is as follows:
4200 5th Ave, Pittsburgh PA 15260
- On the next screen you will be able to download your software by selecting "Access products"
- At the Products and Services page, you can install or download any of the Autodesk products that you have claimed
Your license and software should become available almost immediately. Be sure to claim a license for each Autotdesk application you plan to use in the computing labs.
