How to migrate from using Contact List Triggers to Contact List Workflows within Qualtrics

Issue

Qualtrics will no longer be developing any improvements for contact list triggers, located in Post Survey Options. Any active contact list triggers will no longer run starting December 1, 2025; this means no contacts will be added to the selected contact list.  Qualtrics strongly recommends not using contact list triggers, as they may not behave as intended. For the same functionality with added improvements, replace Contact List Triggers with Contact List Workflows using the instructions below.

How to Identify Existing Contact List Triggers

1. Go to survey options.
 

2. Go to Post-Survey.

3. Under Manage contact list triggers, click Edit triggers.

4. Any triggers located here will need to be rebuilt

Creating and Managing Contact List Workflows

 

1. Go to survey options.

2. Go to Post-Survey.

3. Under Manage contact list workflows, click Add a contact list workflow.

4. Click Add a condition to set conditions under which the workflow is triggered.

5. Select the XM Directory you’d like to import the contact into.

6. Select if you’d like to add new contacts to a mailing list. Once selected, choose a mailing list from the dropdown.

7. By default, the Email field will be used to prevent duplicate contacts. You can select additional fields to merge duplicate contacts, if you want.

8. Click Next.

9. Select if you’d like to map Transaction data and Subscription status by clicking the checkmark next to the item. 

10. Click Save.

11. Click the switch to turn the workflow on.
