Overview

All Pitt Information Technology managed systems are governed by strong change management procedures to ensure stable and reliable service. A Change Advisory Board comprised of senior Pitt IT staff and management oversees the Change Management policy, process, and procedures. Enterprise-wide changes are announced to customers prior to the system outage.

There are four main categories of changes:

  • Routine: implemented every weekday from 9:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.
  • Downtime: implemented each week from 11:00 p.m. on Saturday to 7:00 a.m. on Sunday.
  • Exemption: performed outside one of these two timeframes.
  • Vendor Downtime: performed for vendor-hosted applications with their own downtime change windows that do not coincide with Pitt IT's.
