Overview

Most web browsers include built-in password management that prompts you to save passwords for sites that you visit. Pitt Password Manager (1Password) is a much more secure method of storing passwords. After you install Pitt Password Manager, disable your browser's built-in password management feature to avoid confusion and enhance security.

Safari

  1. Open Safari.
  2. Click Safari in the top menu.
  3. Click Settings.
  4. Click AutoFill.
  5. Uncheck the selection under AutoFill web forms for User names and passwords.

Chrome

  1. Open Chrome.
  2. Click the 3 dots in the top-right corner.
  3. Click Passwords and autofill.
  4. Click Google Password Manager.
  5. Click the Menu button (3 lines) in the upper left corner.
  6. Click Settings.
  7. Turn off Offer to save passwords and passkeys.

Firefox

  1. Open Firefox.
  2. Click the menu button (3 lines) in the top-right corner.
  3. Click Settings.
  4. Click Privacy & Security on the left.
  5. Scroll to the Passwords section.
  6. Uncheck Ask to save passwords.

Microsoft Edge

  1. Open Microsoft Edge.
  2. Click the 3 dots in the top-right corner.
  3. Click Settings.
  4. Open Passwords and autofill, then click Microsoft Password Manager.
  5. Turn Ask to save passwords and passkeys
