Respondus/Elentra Networking Troubleshooting Tips

Generally, a network connectivity issue occurs if the user isn’t signed into an internal Pitt WiFi network or is not connected to the network via an ethernet cable.

Current recommendations for users encountering the problem are to:

  • Verify that the user is connected to either Wireless PittNet or Eduroam, and does not have any other local Wireless connections saved. This is because an unwanted network connection may be set to automatically reconnect if a connection is lost. Or:
  • Connect the device to the network via an Ethernet cable.

This resolves the problem for PC users.

Mac users are kicked off the wireless network after an undetermined period of time, and may need to repeat the steps to re-establish a network connection.

Steps to Re-Establish a WiFi Connection

1. Close completely out of the Lockdown browser. Exam responses not backed up online will not be saved. The green bar in the top center indicates how many questions are saved.

2. Forget the Wireless network(s) which need to be removed.

3. Reconnect to Wireless PittNet or Eduroam, and ensure the connection reconnects automatically.

4. Reopen the saved exam on the exam page on Elentra. You may need to refresh for the page to update.

If after following all steps on this page the user still cannot establish a stable network connection, they will be issued a Windows loaner laptop to complete their exam.
