If you encounter problems with network connectivity, follow these steps:
Ensure that you are connected to the Salk network, either via Ethernet or Pitt-MDA Wi-Fi.
If the issue persists, unplug the USB-to-Ethernet dongle connected to the Trios scanner, and reboot your machine. Reconnect the USB dongle once you are connected to Wi-Fi and Global Protect. Launch the 3Shape application.
Trouble accessing the SDM-TRIOS server? Follow these guidelines:
New Device:
If it's a new device that has never run Trios, check if there's an issue with the setup. Ensure proper connectivity and configurations.
Existing Device:
For an old device that worked in the past, check for possible outages affecting all machines. Verify if the dongle at the NOC (Network Operations Center) is functional.
Outage Verification:
Make a Pitt IT ticket and contact the NOC to ensure the dongle is plugged in. If needed, restart the server by contacting HSIT Infrastructure.
Final Checks:
After server restart, confirm the dongle is still plugged in by contacting the NOC for verification.
These steps should help resolve network and server-related issues efficiently. If problems persist, consider reaching out to the relevant support channels for further assistance.

Laptops must be connected to the Pitt MDA wireless network
Storage servers are SDM-TRIOS (SDM) and SDM-TRIOS2 (UDHS)
The main program is Dental Desktop and requires 3D acceleration on the server to run updates
USB dongle licensing
If no endpoints can connect, then try to have someone reboot the server. If that does not work, then call the NOC and have them cycle the power on the digi USB to ethernet hub. This usually does not require a reboot so try opening 3Shape Unite / Dental Desktop before rebooting the server a second time.
Include these steps in the ticket giving the NOC instructions on how to cycle the power:
ATTN: NOC
SDM 3Shape servers need to have the licensing dongles reseated. Please take the following actions:
Unplug power dongle cable (next to ethernet) on digi USB to ethernet box
Wait five seconds until all the lights are off and plug back in
Wait for lights to turn green on the front
Both dongles are located at R-04-26 in the datacenter (black USB hub named digi with green USB 3Shape dongles).

Swap protection tip for black rounded tip, replace handle in cradle.
Select 3D Calibrate Scanner.
Swap black rounded tip for scanning tip (with mirror).
With scanning tip (with mirror), select Color Calibrate Scanner.
Mount color calibration adapter (off white box-shaped tip) over the scanning tip.
Insert black color calibration target (found in the black box that looks like a video game) with color side facing up.
After selecting Next, flip the black box over.
Everything should immediately go back in the box, with protective clear sleeve, to keep the calibrator safe. These need to be replaced annually (there is an expiration date on the back).
