Overview

Creating a repository is an easy way to minimize impact on downtime in support of maintenance of servers. The repository manager allows for creating and managing the type of updates that are desired for a specific platform, group, or device. Below is the generic way to create a repository.

How To Create A Dell Update Repository For A PowerEdge Server

Steps

  1. Login to Safari
  2. Locate the icon for Dell Data Center version Repository manager
  3. Click create new repository
  4. Type in a description of the repository [i.e. ESXi R720] [Description: This is a complete repository for VMWare hosts running on R720 servers 5-23-2017 created by joe]
  5. Click next
  6. There is no need to change the base repository because ours is downloaded from dell directly.
  7. Click next
  8. Select/deselect the items related to this repository uncheck any items that are NOT relevant to this repository
  9. Click next
  10. Select the OS format appropriate to the repository
  11. Click next
  12. Select the model of the server hardware
  13. Click next
  14. Under optional components click the "select Components" button
  15. Click the All button
  16. Click the All button on the right
  17. Click OK
  18. Click next
  19. Click finish
  20. After the repository is created, we are now ready to create the ISO image for use
  21. Click on my repositories, and place a check in the box next to the repository of interest
  22. Open the repository
  23. To create a bootable ISO image click the deployment tools on the top right
  24. Click bootable linux ISO only
  25. Click next
  26. A custom script can be used, but I did not modify
  27. Click finish
