Keeping your operating system updated helps to protect your data and the University against cyber threats. Take the following steps to enable automatic updates and background security improvements on your MacOS devices.
Enable Automatic Updates and Background Security Improvements
- Go to the Apple menu ()
- Go to System Settings
- Go to General
- Go to Software Update
- Turn on Automatic Updates
- Turn on Install Security Responses and System Files
If an update is available, install it promptly. If your Mac is University-managed, updates and security improvements are handled automatically on your behalf.
- Note: Mac users are able to check for and apply updates even if they are using a University-managed device.
