This guide walks you through downloading, installing, and activating Microsoft Project and 365 and Office apps through your University of Pittsburgh Microsoft 365 account portal. When finished you can run Microsoft 365 apps, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneDrive, Teams, and Project on your Windows 11 operating system.
Before you can install Project, you must uninstall all versions of Microsoft 365 and Office products already installed on your computer. Important: If you are installing Microsoft Office for the first time on a fresh install of Parallels Desktop for Mac running Windows 11, you can skip to the Install Microsoft Project step.
Uninstall Microsoft 365 and Office apps from the Control Panel.
Select Programs > Uninstall a program. Select your Microsoft 365 or Office product and choose Uninstall.
Install Microsoft Project. Go to m365.cloud.microsoft/apps and sign in with your University Computing Account credentials.
Click on Install apps > Microsoft 365 apps.
In the Apps & devices screen click on the Install Project button to download the installation file. Important: Keep this browser tab open to return to it later to install Microsoft 365 and Office apps.
Open your Downloads folder and double-click OfficeSetup.exe. When prompted enter your administrator username and password or click Yes to begin installation.
Wait while Microsoft Project finish installing.
When the You’re all set! splash screen appears, click Close. Microsoft Project is now installed and ready to use.
You can now install the rest of Microsoft 365 and Office apps. Return to the Apps & devices tab you kept open earlier, click the Install Office button.
Open your Downloads folder and double-click OfficeSetup.exe (1). Important: The installation file is the same as before and the file name will have a number added to it inside parentheses. When prompted enter your administrator username and password or click Yes to begin installation.
Wait while Microsoft 365 and Office Apps finish installing.
When the You’re all set! splash screen appears, click Close. Microsoft 365 and Office apps is now installed and ready to use.
Microsoft 365 and Office apps and Microsoft Project are now installed and ready to use.
