Connecting Chromebooks to PittNet Wi-Fi

Overview

Pitt IT supports general connectivity for wi-fi devices. You should be able to connect to PittNet Wi-Fi by configuring your Chromebook device according to these specifications.

Configuring Chromebooks

Complete the following steps to connect your Chromebook to PittNet Wi-Fi.

  1. Click on the Quick Settings Panel at the bottom right of your screen.

  2. Select the Wi-Fi button.

  3. A list of available wireless networks will appear. Select WIRELESS-PITTNET or eduroam.

  4. The Join Wi-Fi network window will appear. Select the following settings:
    ChromeOS PittNet 1
    ChromeOS PittNet 2

    1. EAP method: PEAP

    2. Phase 2 authentication: MSCHAPv2

    3. Server CA certificate: Do not check

    4. Subject match: <leave blank>

    5. Subject alternative name match: <leave blank>

    6. Domain suffix match: <leave blank>

    7. Identity: your University Computing Account username (without @pitt.edu)

    8. Password: your University Computing Account password

    9. Anonymous identity: <leave blank>

  5. Click the Connect button.

Troubleshooting

  • Verify that your University Computing Account username and password are correct. When in doubt, try to log in on my.pitt.edu.
  • Locate the setting for "Domain suffix match" and enter pitt.edu
  • Forget the network, restart your device, then try again.
