Globus: How to Link Your Personalized Pitt Email

Overview

Your Pitt Email (Outlook) can be personalized by creating an alias such as John.A.Smith@pitt.edu. However, Globus uses your Pitt username such as jas987@pitt.edu. When a colleague shares a file with you on Globus using your email alias, you will receive a "Permission Denied" error. The solution is to link your email alias to your Pitt username in Globus.

Details

  1. With any Web browser, sign into the Globus Web App using your Pitt username.
  2. On the left panel, click Settings, then Link Another Identity:

  3. On the next screen, click "link an email address":

  4. Complete the process by entering the verification code that will be sent to you.

That's it. Files can now be shared to you on Globus using your alias.
