Pitt AI Connect is the University’s centralized self-service platform for generating AI API keys and integrating AI models into your development projects and applications. AI Connect interfaces with an LLM gateway that provides a single, consistent interface to many of today’s most widely used large language models, giving you programmable access to AI APIs without setting up separate accounts with each model provider. Pitt Digital provides the most common LLMs, with more to be brought online as the program matures.

Key Features
- Single API for Many Models: One set of API keys works across all currently available AI models through the Portkey gateway.
- Project-Based Organization: Organize and manage API keys by project — the equivalent of a grant, an administrative initiative, or an academic course — with one project able to hold multiple keys.
- Spend Tracking and Budgets: Set a monthly budget per project; the system flags spend as it approaches the limit and stops traffic when the limit is reached. Usage appears in the Cloud Billing and Usage Tableau Dashboard.
- Departmental Funding Controls: Charges are billed to a designated 32-digit University GL account (Subcode 6490) only after the responsible financial approver authorizes its use.

How do I access this service?
Browse to Pitt AI Connect and sign in with your University credentials. You may be prompted to complete multi-factor authentication through Pitt Passport.
