Proctorio is an automated ID verification and online proctoring platform. The platform monitors video, audio, browser navigation and interaction. The tool integrates with Canvas quizzes for greater security of assessment completion. Best used for high-stakes, summative assessments and to verify the identity of individuals completing coursework in online programs.

Key Features

  • Lockdown Browser: Proctorio requires the use of a browser integration in Google Chrome, which monitors browser activity and can lock students out of an exam.
  • ID Scan, Web Cam and Screen Recording: Proctorio enabled quizzes can require students to scan their ID card, record their face via web cam, and/or record their computer screen for the duration of the exam. Proctorio's algorithm tracks facial movement and browser activity, flags suspicious behavior, and will lock the exam if flagged behabior exceeds certain parameters. It also allows instructors to review these recordings upon exam completion to evaluate for academic integrity.
  • Integration with Canvas Quizzes and New Quizzes: Proctorio integrates directly into Canvas Quizzes and Canvas New Quizzes, allowing instructors to make use of existing online exams.
