YellowDig is a social media-like discussion and posting forum integrated with the Canvas class site. All members of a class roster may post, reply, up-vote and contribute files to the Yellowdig board. Instructors may set automatic requirements for posting length, participation, up-votes, etc all of which may be passed back to the gradebook.
About This Service
Key Features
- Dynamic Student Engagement - Recommended for use as an alternative to the Canvas discussion board and to gamify student discussion activity. YellowDig encourages student engagement by awarding points and badges for all levels of activity, from creating prompts, responding to prompts, responding to other students, even up-voting and other reactions.
- Automated Grading - Instructors can set grading parameters ahead of time for the above criteria, as well as word count requirements and required activity level from all students. YellowDig can be linked with a Canvas course as an assignment, and pass an assignment grade directly to the course gradebook.
- Peer Review - Students are also awarded points for flagging content as irrelevant or inappropriate, enabling a form of self-moderation and ensuring a level of quality in the discourse
