Health Sciences IT Research Data Storage Requirements and NAS Usage Responsibilities

esearch data must be stored on University‑approved platforms (e.g., Isilon, AWS, Azure) in compliance with University data protection and retention policies. NAS devices are not supported by HSIT and are fully the responsibility of the end user, including security, patching, and backups to an approved University platform. NAS devices cannot store sensitive data and are not acceptable for long‑term research data retention.

Enterprise Network File Storage (Andrew File System)

The University offers a distributed network file storage system known as the Andrew File System (AFS). You can store files and documents on remote AFS servers and access those files as easily as if they were stored locally on your computer.
