Overview
LinkedIn Learning is an online learning platform that provides in-demand Business, AI, Technology, and Creative skills. LinkedIn Learning is integrated with Canvas.pitt.edu
Benefits
- Instructors may select LinkedIn Learning courses or videos segments from courses and assign them to students in a Canvas course.
- This includes LinkedIn Learning playlists.
Accounts
- The University Computing Account (UCA) is required to use this integration. Using a personal LinkedIn Account will not be recognized by the integration.
- If an a UCA is linked with a personal LinkedIn account, the UCA must be the account used for this integration.
Launching
- The LinkedIn learning course must be accessed through the Canvas.pitt.edu integration in the course. Students should not access the LinkedIn Learning course directly through LinkedIn. This will result in the grade not being passed into the Canvas course.
- LTI is not compatible with LinkedIn Learning native mobile applications. These applications include the LinkedIn iOS and Android apps.
Grades
- LinkedIn Learning courses grades are automatically input into the Canvas course on a Complete / Incomplete basis.
- No Score other than 0% or 100% is available from the integration.
Troubleshooting
- If the grade did not pass into the Canvas course directly from LinkedIn Learning, the student must provide the instructor with a certificate of completion from LinkedIn Learning directly. The instructor may then choose to manually update the grade in Canvas. This may be the result if the student did not launch the LinkedIn Learning course from within the Canvas course via the integration, or if the student completed the course using a personal login.
- Student: To access the LinkedIn Learning certificate
- Click the LinkedIn Learning photo/silhouette in the top right corner and select Settings
- Click My Library along the left, and then select Learning History
- Each Completed course is listed and includes a More Menu (…) to Download Certificate
- Additional ways to view and download Certificates of completion are available at https://www.linkedin.com/help/learning/answer/a700836
Recommendation
- Do not have your web browser remember your username and password. It may log you into LinkedIn on a personal account, instead of your intended UCA account.
Refer to https://services.pitt.edu/TDClient/33/Portal/KB/ArticleDet?ID=246 for more information on Linking or unlinking a personal LinkedIn learning account with your UCA.
