Issue Overview
If you're experiencing difficulties with Tableau not displaying Collections that you are a member of, this might be due to interference from ad blockers installed on your browser. Ad blockers can sometimes block essential scripts or URLs that Tableau uses to display content, leading to missing or incomplete information.
Cause
The primary cause of this issue is that ad blockers can prevent Tableau from accessing specific URLs necessary for loading your Collections. In particular, the URL https://analytics.pitt.edu
may be blocked, which can disrupt the normal functioning of Tableau.
Solution
To resolve this issue, you need to add https://analytics.pitt.edu
to the exclusion list of your ad blocker application. Below are general steps you can follow to add a URL to the exclusion list of common ad blockers:
Steps to Add a URL to the Exclusion List
-
Open your browser settings: Navigate to the extensions or add-ons section, where your ad blocker is installed.
-
Locate your ad blocker: Find the ad blocker extension you are using (e.g., AdBlock, AdBlock Plus, uBlock Origin).
-
Access the settings or preferences: Click on the ad blocker icon and select settings or preferences from the dropdown menu.
-
Add an exclusion: Look for options related to whitelisting or exceptions. Enter https://analytics.pitt.edu
as a site to be excluded from blocking.
-
Save changes: Ensure that you save your changes and refresh your browser to apply the new settings.
-
Check Tableau: After adding the URL to the exclusion list, revisit Tableau to check if the Collections are now displaying correctly.
Please Note:
-
Browser-specific Instructions: The exact steps might vary depending on the browser and ad blocker you are using. Check the ad blocker’s help documentation for browser-specific instructions.
-
Disable Ad Blocker Temporarily: If adding the URL to the exclusion list does not resolve the issue, consider temporarily disabling the ad blocker to see if the problem persists.
