Overview

The Discover Module is a new tool linked to Scholars@Pitt that is designed to showcase the expertise, achievements, and impact of our research community. Integrated with Scholars@Pitt, it automatically updates public profiles with professional information, making it easier for researchers and faculty to present their work on a larger scale. This tool enhances visibility and supports collaboration by allowing users to search and connect with peers by expertise, fields of research, and more.

Get Started:

  1. Access Discover. Note: Make sure you are connected to PittNet Virtual Private Network (VPN), or you may receive an error when trying to access the page. 
  2. Utilize the search field. Enter names, keywords, or disciplines.

Profile Privacy Settings

The content for your public facing profile in Discover is a reflection of your profile in Scholars@Pitt. It can contain content like your photo, email address, an overview statement, your co-authors at your institution, experience, a list of publications, grants, and professional activities.

For others to see your profile publicly in Discover, you will need to select the proper privacy settings. This video covers Profile Privacy Settings.

Experts Search

One of the great benefits of the Discover module is connecting with peers. This video covers how to use the search function in Discover to find fellow experts and build connections.

Research Interest Labels

These labels allow you to indicate the fields of research you are involved in. They can also help with sorting, filtering and searching in Discover.
