Q: Is my data secure with Claude?
A: Yes, your data is secure. Anthropic runs an automated abuse detection system for safety purposes only and only reviews conversations if they are flagged by the detection system. University of Pittsburgh administrators will not access your conversations or requests unless you share them and will only have anonymized data regarding platform usage. No party will share or sell your information.
Q: Will Anthropic use my inputs to train their models?
A: Anthropic won’t train its models using any of your inputs.
Q: What level of confidential data can I upload to our Claude environment?
A: Any sensitive or proprietary data that you upload to Claude is secure unless you share it with another user, for example, by sharing a conversation or a custom Claude Project.
Q: What happens to my archived information after I no longer have access (for example, because I’ve graduated)?
A: There is currently no automated way to migrate your data if you leave the University. If you have a personal Claude account, you can share conversations and projects with that account or manually copy and paste custom instructions and prompts.
Q: What Features Are Included in My University-Sponsored Education Plan?

Q: I’m seeing an error message that says "Claude's response was limited as it hit the maximum length allowed at this time". What does this mean and how should I navigate the issue?
A: This means you’ve hit a limit around the length of Claude’s responses and length of your thread. Follow these tips from our Help Center and consider starting a new chat with Claude.
Q: I’m seeing an error message that says “Your message is over the length limit”. What does this mean and how should I navigate the issue?
A. This error is due to you hitting Claude’s context window limits. Claude has a large context window, so you should rarely hit these error messages. Follow these tips from our Help Center and clean up your project and chat files, if possible.
Q: I’m seeing a warning message that says “You have X messages remaining”. What does this mean and how should I navigate the issue?
A: There is a daily message limit on Claude. The number of messages you can send will vary based on length of message, including the length of files attached and length of your current conversation. You’ll receive several warning messages before receiving an error message. When you receive your first warning message, consider following these tips from our Help Center.
