The Slate Reader
Overview
The Reader is your home base for working with applicants. This is where you can see who your applicants are, where they are in the application process, and begin reviewing their applications.

The initial page of the reader is sparse. To the left, you will see Navigation to take you through the reader. To the right, you will see some helpful instructions on how to navigate the reader. Taking the time to review the shortcuts in this section will save you time in the long run when reviewing applicants.
An overview of the left menu navigation is as follows:
Browse: shows your program’s “bins”. Applications move from bin to bin depending on what stage of the process they are in.
Search: allows you to search for a specific applicant.
Queue: shows applications that are specifically in your personal queue.
Recent: a list of recent applications you have viewed.
Exit: returns you to the main Slate page.
Browsing Applicants
• Click on the Browse tab. Here you will see the various “bins” of your workflow.
• Each bin will show the number of applicants currently in that bin.

• Clicking on a bin takes you to the Search tab and will show you a list of the applicants in that bin.
• Use the filters to the right to move quickly between bins.
• To view an individual applicant record, click the paper icon to the right of the applicant’s row.

Reviewing an Individual Application
• Once you open an application within the Reader, you may navigate through the applicant’s information with the left-hand menu, or by using the arrow keys.
• Use the search bar in the upper right to search for a specific part of the application.

• For more information about the applicant, click on the applicant’s name at the top of the page. This will bring up a new window that includes:
- Contact and biographical information for the applicant.
- Lookup Record link: This opens the application record in database view. See Managing Applicants via the Database View for more information.
- Read in New Window link: Opens the application in a new reader window.
