Utilizing Microsoft Unified Support for IT Partners

Overview

This page provides additional details about Microsoft Unified Support which is available at no cost to all IT Partners. Microsoft Unified Support provides unlimited end-to-end managed support directly from Microsoft. While the Technology Help Desk is always here for you, Microsoft Unified Support extends the ability for IT Partners to directly submit, track, and share information with others about Microsoft support cases.

The service also offers over 1,800 fully-fledged lab environments, webcasts, and learning paths that can be used for hands-on learning and skill development.

Getting Started Using Microsoft Unified Support is Easy:

Register

As an IT Partner you will receive a "Welcome to Microsoft Unified Support!" email with a Go to Services Hub link. To access these support services for the first time:

  1. Click the Go to Services Hub link in the "Welcome to Microsoft Unified Support!" email you receive.
  2. Click Sign In.
  3. Log in to the Microsoft Services Hub with your University Computing Account username and password.
  4. Complete a brief user profile:
    • On the Tell us about yourself page, enter your First nameLast namePreferred Email Address, and check any Your function boxes for your IT Role, then click Next.
    • On the Add your technical interests page, click the Interests plus icon (‘+’), make any selections from the drop-down list, then click Next.
    • On the Select your focus areas page, check the Focus areas boxes, then click Next.
  5. Click Close.

Activate

You will receive a "You now have the Service Support Administrator role" email. To activate support services:

  1. Click View or activate role >.
  2. Locate the Service Support Administrator role, then click the Activate link in the Action column on the right-hand side of the table.
  3. An Activate - Service Support Administrator pop-up window opens. In the Reason text box, enter or copy and paste the following reason: "This is to enable support for the Microsoft Unified Support now available to IT Partners."
  4. Click Activate.
  5. When the activation status is complete, the pop-up window closes. An onscreen message indicates that the role has been activated. You will also receive an email verifying the activation is complete.

Once you've registered and completed the activation, you will have access to Microsoft Unified Support.

Access Support

  1.  Once you've registered and completed the activation, visit the Microsoft Services Hub, click Sign In, then log in with your University Computing Account username and password.
  2. Click the Support link from the top left-hand side of the Microsoft ribbon.
  3. The page displays information that you can review about support requests and history. Using the links on the upper right-hand side of the page, take one of the following actions:
    • Open a new support request — click Open a new support request, then complete the New Support Request form to create a new support request.
      Note: You will need to select a product, enter a description of the issue, enter information about issue severity and level of support required, provide contact information, and verify the details for the support request.
    • Review and manage support requests — click Manage all support requests, then click the title of a request to see additional details.

Access Learning

  1. Visit the Microsoft Services Hub, click Sign In, then log in with your University Computing Account username and password.
  2. Click the Learning link from the top left-hand side of the Microsoft ribbon.
  3. Choose from the learning resources that are available.
