These steps detail how to install the Lecture Capture (Panopto) macOS Recorder on Macintosh computers running at least macOS Big Sur 11.2.0. Additional information is available about the installation on Panopto's site.

Specifications

MacOS versions  Panopto for Mac 14.0.0 supports MacOS 12 and above.

Standard Quality: Any Mac hardware, which supports the installed macOS

High Quality: Intel Core i7 or Apple M1

Memory: 8GB RAM

Built-in FaceTime HD camera or USB ports for webcams or other recording devices (optional)

Disable sleep mode, screen savers, and scheduled tasks.

MacOS Recorder Installation

  1. Launch Lecture Capture (Panopto) via My Pitt.

  2. In the upper left corner, click + Create.

  3. Click the Download Installer link for macOS.

  4. Run the Panopto Recorder.pkg file.

  5. Click Continue.

  6. Click Install.

  7. If prompted, enter your installation credentials, then click Install Software.

    ""

  8. If prompted, click OK so the installer can configure your computer properly.
    Note: If you are prompted and do not click OK, recording uploads will not complete successfully.

  9. Click Close.
