Overview

If you've changed your password online at https://accounts.pitt.edu, or changed the password on another computer, there's a chance you may not be able to log in to your main computer with the new password. Follow the below steps to try to resolve it!

Detail

If the below steps don't work, or you don't remember your old password, you'll need to contact IT for assistance. Either reach out to your local IT or contact the Pitt IT Technology Help Desk at 412-624-4357, or submit a request online!

  1. Log into the computer with your old password
  2. Either connect to Pittnet (if on campus) or log into GlobalProtect and connect
  3. Lock the computer with Ctrl + Alt + Del
  4. Unlock the computer with your new password
  5. Verify global protect is still logged in
  6. Restart the computer
  7. You should be able to log in with your new password now.

Note: once logged in, some applications might pop up and ask for your new password (Outlook, Word, etc.). You may also need to remap any network drives. For remapping, see How to Map a Network Drive (Windows and Mac).
