Resetting a Forgotten Password

Overview

If you've forgotten your password, the Forgot Password - Password Reset Service is the quickest and easiest way to reset it.

Those with sponsored accounts, can contact their Responsibility Center Account Administrator or account sponsor to request a reset.

If you have issues with either of the above options or have additional questions, please call the Technology Help Desk at 412-624-4357.

Reset Your Password if You Have Forgotten It

Important: You Must Have Set Your Password Security Questions to Reset Your Password Online

1. You can either navigate to Forgot Password / Password Reset or click the Forgot password? link on the Pitt Passport login page:

 

 

2. Enter your University Computing Account Username and Date of Birth.  Click Next.

Please note: your Username is NOT an email address or your full name. It was given to you when you first activated your account.

 

3. Depending on your account type and the information we have on file for you, you may be asked to verify your identity by:

A) Using multifactor authentication (MFA) (Duo app must be installed to complete MFA)

 

B) Answering your security questions

C) Entering a code sent to you by text or email

4. Enter and confirm your new password, then click Next.

Your password has been successfully reset.

 

Managing Your Account Online

You can log in to Account Self-Service to manage your account online, where you can change your password, reset your security questions, manage your Duo devices, and much more!


 

If you don't have your Security Questions set to use the self-service password reset, here are the steps to update them:

 

  1. Log in to Account Self-Service
  2. Click on Login & Security
  3. Click Change Password

  1. Select the Update Security Questions
  2. Complete the required sections
  3. Click Update Questions
