Create an Account

Please note that you must complete these steps even if you previously created a MyResNet account at Pitt. Pitt IT recommends that you create your MyResNet account before you get to campus so that you are ready to connect as soon as you arrive.

  1. Visit https://pitt.apogee.us
  2. Click Sign In on the Apogee portal.

  3. Log in via Pitt Passport with your Pitt credentials and Duo multifactor authentication.

  4. Click the checkbox after you have read and accepted the terms and conditions, then click Complete Profile.

  5. A pop-up window displays your default password. Click Copy if you want to copy your default password to your clipboard, then click Close.

Note: You will receive an email from support@apogee.us confirming that your account has been created.

  6. After your account is created, click Go to Your Wi-Fi Password on the pop-up window that displays. If the pop-up does not display, sign back in and click on Show Wi-Fi Password under the Add Devices tab.

  7. Change your default password to something unique and click Save. You will use this password to connect all of your devices to MyResNet.

Important: Choose a password that is different from your University Computing Account password. You will receive an email from support@apogee.us confirming your new Wi-Fi password.

Connect to MyResNet-5G

  1. Open the wireless settings on the device you want to connect.
  2. Connect to MyResNet-5G from your list of available Wi-Fi networks.
  3. Enter your Wi-Fi password when prompted to connect.
  4. Enable the “auto-join” feature (iOS) or “auto-connect” feature (Android) on your device to ensure that it connects automatically to the network in the future.

The next time your device is within range of MyResNet-5G, it should connect automatically.

Connect to MyResNet-6G

MyResNet-6G provides faster performance and lower latency for newer devices that are capable of connecting to it. However, it requires extra steps the first time that you connect.

Important: You must follow the steps below to turn off Private Addresses and register your device at pitt.apogee.us when connecting to MyResNet-6G. Otherwise, MyResNet-6G will not recognize your device the next time that you try to connect.

  1. Open the wireless settings on the device you want to connect.
  2. Connect to MyResNet-6G from your list of available Wi-Fi networks using your Wi-Fi password.
  3. Turn off Private Addresses on your device. In general, you only need to turn off Private Addresses on newer laptops and newer phones (for example, the iPhone 15 and Android devices that are less than two years old).
  4. Visit pitt.apogee.us and click Sign In with your Pitt username and password.
  5. Select your device, name it, and then enter its MAC address. Click MAC Address Help for guidance on locating the MAC address. When you are finished, click Add a Device.

  6. Enable the “auto-join” feature (iOS) or “auto-connect” feature (Android) on your device to ensure that it connects automatically to the network in the future.

The next time your device is within range of MyResNet-6G, it should connect automatically.

Helpful Tips

  • MyResNet-5G is the default network used for most devices. It provides fast speeds and the simplest connection process.
  • MyResNet-6G provides faster performance and lower latency for newer devices that are capable of connecting to it. However, it requires extra steps the first time that you connect.
  • Do not use Eduroam, and only use MyResNet-2G if you have an older device that cannot connect to MyResNet-5G or MyResNet-6G.
  • If you connected to the network named “MyResNet Start Here” to set up your device on campus, be sure to forget this network from your device after you have created your account. This network has slower speeds and exists only to help get you up and running with your MyResNet account

Guest Access

Guests can obtain access to MyResNet by visiting https://pitt.apogee.us, clicking Guests and Visitors, and following the instructions. Note that MyResNet-6G is not available to guests.
