Understanding Pitt Digital System Downtime/Change Management

Overview

All Pitt Digital managed systems are governed by strong change management procedures to ensure stable and reliable service. A Change Advisory Board comprised of senior Pitt Digital staff and management oversees the Change Management policy, process, and procedures. Enterprise-wide changes are announced to customers prior to the system outage.

There are three main types of changes:

  • Standard: implemented every day as needed
  • Normal: implemented each day from 9:00 p.m to 7:00 a.m. the next day
  • Emergency: implemented as soon as possible, usually to resolve or prevent an outage.

To ensure minimal disruption to our services, change windows will be set from 9pm to 7am, seven days a week. While changes can still occur outside these hours, the scheduler will acknowledge the deviation from the standard window and communicate with stakeholders as needed.
