Globus for Microsoft OneDrive: OneDrive and SharePoint Limitations

Tags Globus

OneDrive and SharePoint have limits on what files can be stored. This may affect how you use the service. This is of particular importance if you upload files from Linux systems such as Globus collections provided by Pitt’s Center for Research Computing.

  1. OneDrive does not support symbolic links. An attempt to upload a file that is a symlink, will instead upload the contents of the file to which the symlink points.
  2. OneDrive does not support file permissions or access control lists (ACLs). Uploading then downloading a file will remove any custom permissions set.
