Approve or Block Senders in the Outlook Web App

Overview

Office 365 Email makes it easy to block or allow senders right from Outlook.

If you don't use the Outlook desktop application, use these instructions to add email addresses to your list of approved/safe senders or blocked senders.

 

Detail

  1. Launch myPitt Email via myPitt (my.pitt.edu).
  2. Click the gear icon in the upper right-hand corner of the window.
  3. Under Settings, type block, then click the Block senders and domains setting that displays below your search term.
  4. Choose from the following options:
    • To block email from an individual sender: Click + Add under Blocked senders and domains, enter an email address (for example, user@contoso.com)hit Enter or Return, then click Save.
    • To block email from a domain: Click + Add under Blocked senders and domains, enter a domain (for example, contoso.com)hit Enter or Return, then click Save.
    • To add an individual to the safe sender list: Click + Add under Safe senders and domains, enter an email address (for example, user@contoso.com)hit Enter or Return, then click Save.
      Note: Only individual email addresses can be added to the Safe Senders list. A domain can be entered, but it can still be blocked.

    Note: To edit an entry, click the pencil icon, make your edits, hit Enter or Return, then click Save. You can also click the trash can icon to delete an entry from your Safe senders and domains list or Blocked senders and domains list, then click Save.
