Overview
With DUO for your Pitt Account, have the option to setup Platform Authentication which allows you to use a biometric authentication through Touch ID, Face ID, Password Managers, etc..
To request Platform Authentication to be enabled as an option, submit a ticket to our Security team to have it authorized on your account by clicking this link:
Duo Multifactor Authentication Ticket.
If you happen to setup Platform Authentication, then later remove your other methods of authentication (the app, your phone number, etc.), you will only be able to login to your Pitt Account using the device that you setup the Platform Authenticator on.
For example if you setup DUO while logging in using Safari on your iPhone, and that's your only method of authentication setup, you will then only be able to login to your account using that same device and app. When you attempt to login to the Pitt Account on another device or browser you will be prompted with a request for a Bypass Code from the IT admin.

Resolution
To fix this issue, you can add another DUO device to your account following these instructions:
- Login to accounts.pitt.edu on the device you used to setup DUO for your account
- Navigate to the Login & Security Tab - this will appear at the top when using a computer or on your phone click on the 3 line menu
- Click on the Add/Manage Pitt Passport Devices option
- Complete DUO authentication one more time and then on the new screen select "Add a Device"
- Then select either the "DUO Mobile" option or the "Phone Number" option if your device does not support DUO Mobile
- Follow the setup instructions on the screen and once the new device is added you will no longer see the page for a bypass code when logging in on another device
