Departments can purchase software for professional use on University computers; some software license agreements also permit home use.

Software Available at No Cost
Students can download a number of software titles at no cost including Microsoft Office, Windows, and other titles from the Software Download Service via myPitt (my.pitt.edu).
Faculty, staff, and departments can get software at no cost in a number of ways. You can download software from the Software Download Service. If you do not see the software you need, you may need to reach out to your department to purchase. Please see the pages for students, faculty, staff for details on the software and availability.
Departmental Software Purchases
Software needed for departmental computers and labs must be made through PantherExpress available at myPitt (my.pitt.edu) by a departmental purchaser.
Some departmental software titles include home use rights that allow for installation on personally-owned computers. For home-use software needed for Student, Faculty, and Staff provided through the department, you should reach out to your departmental purchaser.
