Pitt IT – Enterprise Print Server Keychain Reset On Apple Computers (How To)

Overview: All University students, faculty, and staff are required to change their University Computing Account password twice per year at My Pitt (my.pitt.edu). This important requirement enhances security and helps protect your data. It is one part of a larger, layered security strategy that combines multiple security measures to protect against hackers, phishing scams, malicious software, and myriad other threats to the University's computing environment.

When you change your Pitt password your computers connection to the Print Server (and/or Departmental Printers) will currently be disabled until your Keychain is updated with the new password.

This can be resolved in just a few steps by running the “Pitt IT – Enterprise Print Server Keychain Reset” policy within the Self Service Application.

Tip: If you are unaware on how to use Self Service please reference the “Using Self Service on MacOS” article (569).

  1. Open the Self Service Application
  2. Navigate to the “Pitt IT – Enterprise Print Server Keychain Reset” policy
  3. Click “Install/Reinstall” (IMPORTANT: You will not receive a notification at this step to update your password)
  4. Now bring up the file you would like to print
  5. Print (Send the job to the printer)
  6. You will then be prompted with a credentials window which is where your username will autofill and you can enter your new Pitt password.
IMPORTANT: Check the “Remember This Password” Box
