Signing In To Your Polycom VVX 501 Desk Phone

Overview

Microsoft has announced that it is ending Teams integration with older desk telephones, including the legacy Polycom VVX501 desk phones used by some University departments.

To ensure your legacy Polycom VVX 501 desk phones can continue to make and receive calls after June 30, Pitt Information Technology will install an update on affected phones. We will notify you when your phone's update has been scheduled. After the update, you will need to perform a one-time sign in to your desk phone before you can use it to make or receive calls.

Complete the steps below to sign in to your phone. If you no longer use your desk phone, no action is needed.

Performing a Factory Reset of Your Phone

If your phone's screen is frozen and you are unable to sign in, perform a factory reset using these steps.

  1. On the phone's keypad, press and hold buttons 1, 3, and 5 until you are prompted to enter the Administrator Password. Release the buttons.

  2. Dial 112233 on the phone's keypad, then press Enter on the phone's screen.

  3. The phone will reboot several times as it resets and updates. Please allow at least 20 minutes for the reset to complete. You will know the reset is complete when a Sign-In screen with the Teams logo displays (see step 4).

Important: Do not perform any action on the phone until the Sign-In screen with the Teams logo displays. If you are prompted to change an admin password during the reset process, ignore the prompt and allow the phone to finish resetting.

  4. After the phone has finished rebooting, a screen similar to the one shown below displays. Tap Sign In.
