Overview
This article provides information on causes and possible solutions for the inability to add an instructor to a class within the PeopleSoft Student Information System.
Detail
If within PeopleSoft Main Menu > Curriculum Management > Schedule of Classes > Schedule Class Meetings on the Meetings tab for a selected class, you are unable to look up the desired instructor to be assigned to the class, please check the following for possible causes:
- Confirm the Instructor is set up on the Main Menu > Curriculum Management > Instructor/Advisor Information > Instructor/Advisor Table
- Effective date on the table should be on or before the term begin date related to the class they are being added to. The Effective Date of the Instructor/Advisor Table update must be equal or prior to the start date of the Term associated with the class you are assigning the instructor to. For example, if you are assigning the instructor to a Fall Term class, the Effective Date of the Instructor/Advisor Table update must be equal or prior to the start date of the Fall Term.
- In order to assign instructors to a class, the Academic Organization associated with the class on Main Menu > Curriculum Management > Schedule of Classes > Maintain Schedule of Classes, Basic Data tab, should be specified on Approved Courses tab of Instructor/Advisor Table.
- Instructor Available is set to 'Available' on the Instructor/Advisor page.
- When initially adding the instructor to the Instructor/Advisor Table, the department may have selected the wrong PeopleSoft ID for the individual:
- The PeopleSoft ID of an individual with the same name, but not the actual instructor.
- There could be duplicate PeopleSoft IDs for the instructor. For example, one associated with the individuals maiden name and the other one associated with a married name, or one associated with current or former student record, and the other associated with the current employee record.
