Which University Wi-Fi network should I connect to?

Students, faculty, staff, and sponsored account holders should connect to WIRELESS-PITTNET. Please refer to the Connecting to PittNet (Wi-Fi and Wired Networks) page for details on how to connect.

Students living in the residence halls should also connect to MyResNet. Please refer to the Getting Started with MyResNet page for details on how to connect.

Visitors to the University should refer to the Accessing Guest Wi-Fi page for details on the three guest Wi-Fi networks available on campus.

How do I connect my computer to PittNet Wi-Fi?

How do I connect to Wi-Fi in the residence halls?

Students living in the residence halls can connect to MyResNet, a dedicated high-speed Wi-Fi network for streaming music and video, as well as online gaming. Each student can connect up to 12 devices. Please refer to the Getting Started with MyResNet page for details on how to connect.

Why is my computer no longer able to connect to the PittNet Wi-Fi and Wired Networks?

If you are having trouble connecting to PittNet Wi-Fi or a wired network port in a public area (like a classroom or conference room), please refer to the Connecting to PittNet (Wi-Fi and Wired Networks) page for details on how to connect. A current University Computing Account is necessary to access the University's network.

I recently changed my University Computing Account password and now I can't log into Wireless PittNet in public areas in campus or the wired ResNet connection in my residence hall room. Why?

Check your network settings to determine if your username and password are cached or stored. Edit the settings and update the stored password. Ideally you should not store your password. Please refer to the help documents on our PittNet page or contact the Technology Help Desk for assistance.

What is my University Computing Account username?

You can look up your University Computing Account username by searching for your name on Pitt's Find People site.

I forgot my University Computing Account password. What do I do?

If you have set your online security questions, the Self-Service Password Reset Service is the quickest and easiest way to reset your password. If you have not set or do not remember your online security questions, you can call the Technology Help Desk at +1 (412) 624-HELP (4357), or bring your University ID to a Drop-In Support location to have your password reset. Please refer to the Resetting a Forgotten Password page for more detailed instructions and information for those with sponsored accounts.

How do I access my University email?

The easiest way to access your University email is by logging in to Pitt Email (Outlook) via myPitt (my.pitt.edu). You can also access your Pitt Email using a smartphone, tablet, or email client. Please refer to the Pitt Email on Your Mobile Device page for details.

How do I access my Pitt web space?

Your University Computing Account gives you access to space in the Andrew File System (AFS), including space where you can host a personal webpage. You can access your Pitt web space through any SFTP/SCP client. The hostname is linux-ts.it.pitt.edu and your username and password are the same as your University Computing Account username and password. Can students get Microsoft Office software at no cost?

Yes. Microsoft software, including Office, is available for download from https://m365.cloud.microsoft/apps. Please refer to the Getting Started with Microsoft and Office 365 page for full instructions. A variety of other software titles are also available at no cost. Please visit the Software Download Service via myPitt (my.pitt.edu) to browse all software

What are the regular hours and holiday hours for the Drop-In Support locations?

How do I view my grades online?

You can view your grades after they have been posted by logging in to PeopleSoft/HighPoint CX via myPitt (my.pitt.edu).
