Use Microsoft Teams to Make and Receive University Calls from Your PC or Smartphone

Overview

Microsoft Teams enables you to make and receive University phone calls using the Teams app on your computer or smartphone. Because Teams uses an internet connection, there is no need for an additional SIM card or a separate line of service from your mobile provider.

Using Your University Phone Number With Microsoft Teams

  1. Check if your phone number is available in Teams:

  • Open the Teams app on your PC and go to the Calls tab.

  • If your University phone number is displayed, it has already been migrated to Teams.

  • If no number is shown, contact the Technology Help Desk to request the migration.

  1. Set up the Teams app on your smartphone:
  • ​​​​​​Download the Microsoft Teams mobile app from the​​​​​​​ Pitt Mobile App Center, the Apple App StoreGoogle Play.
  • Sign in using your University Computing Account credentials.

  • Tap More at the bottom right, then tap Calls.

  • Tap the phone+ icon in the bottom right to open the dial pad.

You can now make and receive University calls using your Teams number directly from your smartphone.
