unifFLOW Advanced Printing Options

Details

When printing using the Windows or MacOS drivers for uniFLOW, you are able to set particular settings like paper size, duplex, scaling, etc. However, when using basic cloud printing (via mobile device, web page, or plugin), you are unable to set these parameters. This article will discuss how to use the features in the drivers and a work around technique for printing via the cloud to enable advanced features.

After installing the drivers, please be sure to reboot to access all the features below.

Using the Drivers

Windows

Set the paper size for your printer in the settings:

MacOS

Adjust the paper size for your printer in the preferences:

  1. With a document open on your Mac, choose File > Print.
  2. Choose a paper size from the Paper Size pop-out menu.

Adjust the double-sided (or duplex) for your printer in the preferences:

  1. With a document open on your Mac, choose File > Print.
  2. Choose On or Off option from the Double-sided pop-out menu. (Less commonly used is the On Short Edge to change the flip to the top of the page.)

Linux

At this time, there are no uniFLOW drivers available to Linux. Please refer to using uniFlow cloud features.

Using Adobe Save for Advanced Features

You are unable to change the print settings for duplex, page size, etc via the printer interface. To mitigate the issue, you can use the following steps based on your operating system.

Note: "Duplex" doesn't apply when creating a PDF file. Instead, you need to select duplex when sending the PDF file to a physical printer.

Windows

Mitigate default printer settings when using the cloud by using the built-in PDF creation in Microsoft Office desktop applications. Remember to first save the page defaults. See the various tools below:

MacOS

To mitigate default printing options when sending to the cloud for printing, use the steps in Using the Drivers. However, instead of printing, use the save as PDF built into MacOS. The PDF will retain the paper sizing for you.

  1. On your Mac, open the file you want to save as a PDF.
  2. Choose File > Print.
  3. Click the PDF button or click the down arrow  to open the PDF pop-up menu, then choose Save as PDF.
  4. The PDF pop-up menu showing the PDF commands, including Save as PDF.
  5. Choose a name and location for the PDF file. Enter the information you want in the Title, Author, Subject, and Keywords fields.
  6. Click Save in the lower right corner of the window.
